Pet insurance can actually be very important for many reasons as our house has just recently found out. We have actually had our retriever for many years now and he doesnt seem to have had that many problems which is always good, he has had a skin condition that is rather common with a retriever but other than that nothing.
However recently his eye has been weeping and over time a small black lump has started to grow over his eye. To make sure that he was okay we took him to the vet because we had to keep wiping his eye which he didnt really like if I am honest and it just isnt fair on the dog. the first time we took him they said he was fine but he would need to come back after we had used some eye drops on him.
To make sure that it stayed away they said that they would need to do a small operation on the eye. Then the cost came £300. Although this doesnt sound likea very big bill around the Chrisrtmas season it can be quite hard to pay out for and I have to say I was a bit shocked. It is actually very lucky that we still had the pet insurance because we were thinking about putting an end to it.
This really just goes to show that when you least expect it the insurance crops up and you need it. You can even get things like puppy insurance which of course are based around the younger dogs.
If you are thinking about going away to a colder climate this year then make sure you do not forget your ski insurance.
